High On Adventure Ltd is run by Dan Jones.

Dan began canoeing whilst at school which fuelled an enthusiasm for the outdoors and to date a 15 year career. He has been employed in the education, commercial and voluntary sectors.

Dan’s work has been throughout the UK and abroad, leading youth expeditions to Nepal and Tanzania, including spending winters in the Alps teaching skiing. Dan has delivered outdoor programmes for many different providers including: Education Authorities of Cheshire, Edinburgh, Wirral, Barking and Dagenham. The Princes Trust. Children in Crisis initiatives and youth offenders. Management Development Courses. World Challenge Expeditions. Interski. Sporthaus and the Scottish Norwegian Ski School. He is now employed as a Senior Lecturer with Manchester Metropolitan University teaching on the single and joint honours degree programmes in Outdoor Studies.

Dan is a geography graduate with a post graduate in secondary teaching, along with a diploma in sport psychology and a certificate in sports coaching. Dan is currently studying towards an MSc in Sustainable Mountain Development with the University of Highlands and Islands.

Ben began canoeing whilst at school and has worked in the outdoors ever since. He has led trips overseas to Chile, European Alps, Tanzania, Kenya, Bolivia, Norway and Guyana and spent time working as a safety kayaker on the rivers of Nepal.

Ben is based in North Wales working as an Instructor at Plas Y Brenin, the National Mountaineering Centre. In the past Ben has been employed by Operation Raleigh, World Challenge Expeditions, Plas Menai, the National Watersports Centre, St. Davids School and Fairbridge. Ben holds the Mountain Instructors Certificate, Level 4 Coach Sea Kayak and the Level 5 Coach Inland Kayak Awards.

« Dr Will Jones

Specialising in providing outdoor activities and training in the UK and overseas

Will is a keen climber, skier and canoeist taking part in these activities throughout the UK and Europe for more than 15 years. Will has also spent time travelling to Nepal, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia and North America.

Will qualified as a Doctor in Leeds in 1999 and is now a Specialist Registrar in Anaesthetics. He also spent time working in Christchurch, New Zealand. He has completed the Advanced Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support and Advanced Paediatric Life Support. He also holds the UIAA and ICAR Diploma of Mountain Medicine. When ever he's not working he enjoys spending any free time playing in the outdoors. Will screens all our medical forms and seeks further information where necessary. He is developing a provision of First Aid courses which will focus on providing suitable training for the outdoors and remote environments. Will is able to provide medical advice and training, alongside remote care medical first aid kits for those embarking on their own expeditions whether in the UK or abroad.

Rachel has five years’ experience of developing outdoor programmes and planning expeditions overseas for a leading UK-based youth development company.

In that time, she oversaw the delivery of over 400 expeditions and placements to 40 destinations world-wide. She has also co-led youth expeditions to the India Himalayas, the Indonesian jungle and the Moroccan desert. Rachel has also traveled extensively throughout North America, Africa and Europe.

Rachel is a geography graduate who now works as a Communications and Events Manager in the Finance Sector.

« Tom Finbow

Tom is originally from Devon, where a passion for surfing fueled his enthusiasm for a career in the outdoors.

Since leaving school Tom has been training and working in the outdoors for a variety of different providers, including: Haven Banks Outdoor Centre, Peak Pursuits, Avalon Adventure, Bromsgrove and Warrick Boys Schools, and more recently Glenmore Lodge the Scottish National Mountaineering Centre and MMU Cheshire.

Tom first studied for a BTEC in Outdoor Leisure Studies at Exeter College and then went on to study at MMU, where he graduated with a first class honors degree in Outdoor Studies. Tom then headed to Glenmore Lodge where he took a post on their nightwatch scheme. A passion for travel has taken Tom on a surf tour of Europe, winter season skiing and snowboarding in Canada, trekking in Malawi and Colorado.
