National Governing Body Awards

For those seeking to enter the outdoor sector as instructors, we are able to offer a number of training and assessment awards.

Others may which to benchmark their progress by passing personal proficiency skill based training and assessments. For example the British Canoe Union star awards - currently ranging from 1 to 5 star. These awards train and assess skills - from being able to perform a range of basic skills at a personal level to having the skills required to lead and look after others in more challenging conditions. These star awards are a pre-requisite for entry into the coaching scheme.

First Aid Courses

High On Adventure is currently developing a number of First Aid Courses. These will focus on basic first aid skills applicable to the outdoor environment. Further modules will be available which develop specific skills and knowledge for those travelling into remote environments.

High On Adventure staff also offer medical advice and expertise to those operating in the UK or travelling on more remote adventures and expeditions overseas.

Recently a medical kit was prepared for Olly Sanders who travelled to the Garhwal Himalaya to meet up with Nick Bullock and Stuart McAleese, attempting a new line up the West face of Changabang. The West Face was first climbed in 1976 by Joe Tasker and Peter Boardman (unrepeated) and remains the only route on this side of the mountain.

Medical equipment was provided for Dan, Ben and Olly Sanders for their fusion of mountaineering and sea kayaking expedition to explore the largest fjord in the World, East Greenland .
